As I was driving I noticed the car started heating up above normal temp. It went up to about 240 and red lines at 280. There was no smoke coming from the exaust at that time. I drove it for about 1 mile and got to my destination. When I opened the hood I found there was no antifreeze in the radiator. I added 2 gallons of water to it. 1 week prior I had my oil changed and all fluids topped off. After adding the water I started my car and white smoke poured out from the exaust pipe. Before I could shut the car down it shut off itself. Now when I try to start it, it wont even crank over. Do you think I ran it to hot and cracked my head after running it with the water in it? HELP.

Hello
you most likely have a blown head gasket and possible more damage from overheating. As far as cranking pull the spark plugs and see if it cranks then, you may have filled a cylinder with water.
