I have a 1999 pontiac grand am and it has 126000 miles on it. My problem is, the trac off light will come on when im driving without hitting any bumps or water. Then the light wont even turn off. Not even with the switch. When I shut the car off then the light will reset. Help me please!

My 2002 done the same thing, it was caused by bad wheel speed sensors in the front wheel bearings. The light came on more and more often for a few months and then I started hearing a bad wheel bearing. Checked the front wheel bearings and both were bad, ( jack front of car up and grab top and bottom of wheel try to move top of wheel in and out to see if the bearings have play. If you feel any play they are shot.) The sensors are built into the wheel bearings on mine and replacing them cured the trac control llight also.

This happened to me as well a couple years back and I had them fixed ($300 with labor) and now it is acting up again. It also nearly got me into 2 accidents on the ice because the anti-lock braking system would shut off and then I just went slidding down the road.
