97 PLYM - IDLE SHAKES STEERING WHEEL / VIBRATES CAR
1997 Plymouth Voyager
Hey everyone. I have been trying to figure out my issue with my 97 Plymouth Voyager (97k miles) and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. This is what has happened so far. About 3-4 months ago I noticed that when at a stoplight, the car would shake. You could really feel it in the steering wheel. Eventually my engine light came on and it was a Multiple Cylinder Misfire. It was a while since my last tune-up so I replaced the cap, rotor, wires, and plugs. Started the car back up and seemed O.K. for a bit but then my engine light came back on. This time it was cylinder 3/5 and multiple. I checked plug gap again, put everything back together and cleared the code. It still vibrates right when I start it up, seems to get better when it warms up but certain days are better than others. Last weekend I replaced fuel filter and put some fuel treatment into the tank. I also replaced EGR 4 weeks ago because the part was cheap :) When driving I can feel the steering wheel vibrate in a pattern, very odd. The engine light has not come back on now in about 2 weeks. After asking around, others think I might have a cylinder leak and want me to perform a compression test. I think its still gotta be the plugs somehow... Any ideas?
