1999 Grand Voyager with 130000 miles, problem started Saturday began when braking. Sounded like a muffled knocking sound. By today (Monday) sound is almost constant once car accelerates over 30mph. Sound is especially noticable on turns, both to the right and left. Any ideas on what this is?

A knocking/clunking noise when turning would be an indication of a bad outer cv-joint

If it is a bad cv joint. How much does that normally cost to fix? If it were the cv joint, would that account for hearing the noise even when I am NOT turning?

An inner joint will clunk all the time. I would look underneath the vehicle to see if any cv-boots are split/busted. Do this first.
