1991 Acclaim Oil Light

My grandmother gave me her 1991 Acclaim a few days ago. It's a four cylinder basic model with 105,000 miles on it. She has owned it since new and it has been very well taken care of. It runs great on short trips, but on longer trips the oil light will flicker on and off (or stay on steady) when I slow down or come to a complete stop. The light goes off as soon as I accelerate again. Last night, as I was coming to a stop, the oil light came on and the car stalled. It started right back up, but continued to stall when I hit the brakes until I let it sit for awhile to cool down. The temperature gauge doesn't show that the engine is getting overly hot. The oil level checks out full - but when I check it, the dip stick seems extremely hot.
