Transmission problem
1989 Plymouth Acclaim 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Is it necessary to have the ATF drained from the torque converter when changing the a/t filter and fluid? Thanks. I also have a general information question, please, if this is the right place to ask it. Does a 1995 Toyota Avalon come with the gearshift on the steering column, and is the hood counterbalanced? Thanks again.

The torque converter can't be drained. That's why many shops offer a transmission flushing service. That will get all the old fluid out of the torque converter.

You're gonna have to ask a Toyota expert about Toyota stuff. I'm a Chrysler / Dodge expert. Repost your question in the Toyota section for better results.
