I have a opel corsa sport 2008. Now recently when I start the car the engine idles sluggish or just stops running. I have to keeep the car on a high rev just to move the car. When in this condition she jerks and the idling runs up and down. This condition only stays for a few minutes then she disappears. Sometime this keeps quite some time.

The best thing I can give you is a walk through diagnostic for engines with bad performance and stalls. Just follow the below links and they will take you to the diagnostic walk throughs which are the best information and procedures for your situation.

Hi

I have been having an issue with my car for awhile now. The car will drive properly some days and then other days (does not seem to depend if the day is hot or cold) when we start to slow down for a stop street or robot the rev counter jumps from 0 to 3000 then back down and up again. Sometime more often now then in the beginning the car will cut out completely but we are able to start it up directly up again after it cuts out. We have replace the idle controller thanks to one mechanic. The car has been taken in six times now and no one seems to find the issue.

Hey,

This sounds like you have one of two problems, either the engine has a vaccum leak or the IAC motor is slow to react and needs replacement, here are a couple of guides that will help you. figure out what's going on.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-an-engine-vacuum-gauge

and

Please run some tests and get back to us so we can continue helping you.

Best, Ken

Hello People,

Need urgent assistance !

I am having Opel Corsa SAIL 1.4. Now whenever I press the clutch to slow down the car or to shift down the gear, the engine shuts down. So far on mechanic advice I had the injector cleaned and serviced and throttle as well but still the problem exists.

Can anyone suggest what could be the possible reason behind this before I switch the mechanic.

If you start the car in neutral (without pressing the gas pedal) does the engine idle properly or does it shut off?

Have your mechanic to check for vacuum leaks at all vacuum hoses, intake manifold, pcv hose, brake booster hose, etc.

If the "service engine" light is on, have the computer scanned for codes and post the results here.

Hi Team,

Sorry for coming late on this.

From last 3 months this symptom was not noticed till today afternoon. While I was returning from market I again encountered the same problem. The engine unexpectedly went down at a signal when I pressed the clutch to come to neutral.

Also I have noticed that whenever this problem is observed, simultaneously the speedometer too stop working or just bounces. I feel that these are somewhere related to gear box. Correct me if wrong.

I had the air leaks checked and no issue was found.

Please help me out.

Thanks in advance.

Change the EGR valve on the car. Main issue with these cars but first the mechanics will take you for your money and tell you its alot of other things first to make money. It works like this. German cars, or alot of cars take a bit of fumes and press it back in the engine to burn less gas. When this mechanism fails it lets too much gas in and chokes out the engine. Trust me, I spent 6 months and 5k on OPEL mechanics to learn all this. In the end I put 2+2 and figured it out.I asked opel and they would NOT give me my money back -_-

Opel Corsa 2004 Diesel - engine and car runs great but sometimes the engine shutsdown unexpectedly. I am able to restart after 2 to 3 tries with no problem. This has happened around 4 times in 2 weeks. I live in a very warm climate (Qatar) so no problems with outside temperature or cold weather.

Start by having the vehicle plugged into a diagnostic computer to check for fault codes. I would also remove and clean or replace the crankshaft position sensor

Hi guys please help needed. My corsa 1400i utility speedo only works on the first trip of the day. Once u cut out the the engine it will not work for the rest of the day.I have checked the cable and replaced the upper bush at the gearbox and checked my speedo dial. The other ploblem is engine cuts out when stopping. Imust also add to this that some days up to 3days the engine will run perfect no cutting out then all of a sudden the engine light comes on then the cutting out starts again.I have replaced the heat sensor below the coil and cleaned the intake control valve(which was heavily clogged up.)How do u check the crank sensor because I read on this forum that it could be the cause.I know this problem (speedo and cutting out has being discussed on this forum but mine is slightly differant)
