I have an 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, 3300 V6, and when the engine is cold, it has a rough time starting. When it does start, it runs rough and the exhaust smells rich of gas. I talked with a family-known mechanic and he also said to check the fuel pressure. I was wondering if the fuel filter was plugged, could that be a possible fix with the fuel system not achieving the optimum pressure?
Thanks..

Could be a fuel pressure problem and also the coolant temperature sensor
