1987 Oldsmobile Ciera Stalling

1987 Oldsmobile Ciera 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 250000 miles
My engine stalls while I'm driving down the road. I can prevent the stalling if I gun the gas as it's stalling. How do i fix this?
