Heater problem
2002 Oldsmobile Aurora 6 cyl Automatic 125000 miles

Hi, my question is in regards to the heater (air conditionor too but it's winter now). When I turn the heat on the fan doesn't blow. There is no noise, there is nothing. No AC either. It does come on once in awhile, but there is no guarantee that it will. My question is what could the problem be? I'm guessing it is the fan or blower because when it does blow the heat or AC does work. I'm just not sure what part(s) I need to replace. Can you tell me what I need to get the heat up and running for winter?

Thanks.

It is either a bad/corroded connection in the circuit between your control panel and blower motor, or the blower motor is bad itself.

When a blower motor is ready to fail, it will work intermittently before it fails completely (sometimes).

The only way to trace the problem is to use a digital multi-meter and do a voltage drop/ohm test on the circuit and blower.

If you are handy with a meter, go ahead and start probing. If not, then you should take it to a mechanic.
