2001 Oldsmobile Aurora Gas Gauge Jumping around
Electrical problem
2001 Oldsmobile Aurora V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic
This car is really starting to get funky, but one of the problems seems like something I may be able to fix myself (always less expensive). When ever the fuel gauge gets below a quarter tank, it starts jumping around. It may jump all the way to full and then go all the way to empty--usually one or the other and then it just stays there. After filling the tank, the fuel gauge seems to reset itself and work correctly until the tank gets low again. I'm hearing rumors from a friend that I might be able to access and replace the sensor by pulling out the back seat, but when I do this, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. Am I on the right track based on the symptoms? Can I access the fuel sensor in this way? Is this even the problem?
