Steering problem
1997 Oldsmobile Aurora V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 106000 miles
My car steering wheel turns, but my tires are completely straight. if i turn it on all i can do is reverse and drive forward. i dont understand what exactly itsdoing that.

When you turn the steering wheel, does it come to an end and stop? If not, either the steering shaft is no longer attached to the rack and pinion or the rack itself is bad.
Check that and let me know what you find.
