I have an 2003 Alero with 176000 miles. Car ran fine yesterday. Today it won't start. The starter has plenty of power to turn it and I can hear the fuel pump running in the gas tank when I turn the key, but it just won't catch.
I tried starter fluid and it will catch until that is burned then stops. A local mechanic suggested banging on the fuel tank while turning the key in case the fuel pump is sticking - didn't help.
Any other suggestions?
