We just thawed out from very cold temperatures including ice and snow. I didn't drive my car for a few days but I went out and started it up at least every other day. Now when I start it in the morning I get a high pitched whine under the hood which usually goes away after three or four minutes. Driveability not affected yet, to my knowledge. Any ideas on the cause? Thanks.

Hi:
If it has been really cold, the alt may be working extra hard to carge the battery. The next time you start it, check to see if that is the area of the noise.

Let me know what you find.
