My brakes seem to make a noise at times but not always. Last time I took it in the repair person said it was just caliper pin and it was just lubricated. Now it is doing the same thing and they are telling me my brakes are bad. How can I tell the difference. I don't want to pay $700 if it is just the pin.

Hi bevhat711,

Thank you for the donation.

Caliper pins if faulty would either cause the brake calipers to stick and cause premature and unequal wear of the pads.

If they are loose, knocking noise would be emitted when tapping on the brakes.

Faulty brakes would depend on situation. Rotor wear could be due to the pads quality or wearing off resulting in metal to metal contact.

What are the repairs/replacement being recommended?
