The car cuts of and the dash says " Hot AC. Disable and it shuts off. I have no problem starting it back up and there is no smoke. Someone said that a switch needs to be reset. I do not understand

I think they are refering to the temperature sending unit (switch). It could be sending a false signal to the computer that the engine is overheating which cause what you experience.
