1994 Oldsmobile 88 dying out

I've read a similar problem with another 88 owner in this forum. With my olds 88 (94) I notice when i come to a stop or red light, the engine starts to rev up as if I'm pumping the gas lightly, and if i decide to put it in park or N at that time it revs up quite a bit and i just turn it off and then on and it's ok. Also when I'm driving and i start to press on the brake to come to a stop or to make a turn (mostly right turns) the engine cuts off, it always starts right back up and this always happens when I'm applying the brake or just beginning to apply the brake. Doesn't happen 100% of the time but enough to drive me nuts. Appreciate some advice before I start spending $$ trying to figure out what it is.
