1992 Oldsmobile 88 Cuts off while driving and won't restart
Engine Performance problem
1992 Oldsmobile 88 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 112000 miles
Intermittent problem where car runs fine for a week and then suddenly cuts off while driving and won't restart for 30 minutes or longer. Technician can't duplicate problem because of intermittent nature. He did say everything looked normal and ignition control module was replaced a year ago. When car won't restart sometimes the symptom is it just won't spark...other times no sound at all just the dash lights come on and nothing else.

have your mechanic check the resistance in the crank sensor. It may be high to begin with and gets higher with heat. Causes it to fail until it cools off.
