Oil pump replacement can this be done without removing engine

I am trying to replace the oil pump but cannot find how to remove this. I was told I would have to remove the engine is this true any help will be appreciated

I looked it up and it doesn't say the engine has to be removed. It does pay 8.5 hours so its a big job. Just take off the oil pan and then the oil pump chaindrive sprocket. Then remove the oil pump. The only reason id could imagine to take the motor out is for clearance to get the pan off
