Oil being consumed at rapid rate

Hi.
In the last 2 months it has consumed up to 12 ltrs of oil. The temperature stays level when driving and it smokes when it starts from cold.
What may be casuing the the engine to be consuming so much oil? It is doing roughly 100kms of driving per day

That is an enormous amount of oil, if there are not any external leaks, pull the spark plugs and check for ash deposits on spark plugs, this will indicate oil burning in cylinders, but with that amount of oil being used the engine will need to be o/hauled or replaced.
