We have a humming type noise in the rear trunk area when the car is idling or running. It does not change when accelerating. It goes off when key is turned off. It comes on briefly when key is turned on, then goes off, and then comes back on when car is started and runs continuously until key is turned off. We think it is related to the fuel pump, but what other things should be checked before attempting the (for us) difficult replacement of the fuel pump since it requires removal of the gas tank?
