I have a 94 nissan 4x4 pickup 4cyl with 80k miles. Recently when rpms are between 1800 and 2200 the engine seems like someone is turning a switch on and off for about 1 second at a time.

My 94 2wd did the same thing and it was the mass air sensor. It is on the side of the throttle body. It is a square, flat box, with 3 screws holding it in. Take the screws out, it will be 2 sets of prongs with 2 strans of wire going across"looks like a light bulb". If one of the strans are broke, thats the problem, if not run the codes on it.

That was part of the problem but I had to get a whole other throttle body and that solved it. So it was also one of the other sensors on the throttle body as well.
