Steering wheel is side ways or vertical but drives straight when it should be horizontal like a normal steering wheel. Im about to buy this truck but I dont know, it also has rims and tires that look a little too big for it but dont affect its driving, could that be it? Or is it something else, plus I see that the cover underneath the steering wheel is missin like it might have been tampered with is that possible too? What do u think tell me your ideas.

You mean it is vertical but the vehicle is still driving straight or you mean when parked it goes to the vertical spot but when driving you have to hold it horizontal to make it go straight? If so then there is big issue with the front end. Could be something bent or just misaligned such as tie rods. Would definitely have that checked out before buying the vehicle.

The steering wheel is vertical when parked and the wheels are straight at the same time. And when I drive I hold it vertical and it drives straight, basically the only time its horizontal like a normal car is when I take a left turn or a long right turn lol. Ideas? I mean itr drives smooth, I just think it has too big of. Rims and tires for the vehicle? Either that or something is messed up. But I do wana buy this vehicle and fix it I work at autozone and I can get parts fairly cheap ya know. Ideas please thanks

The steering wheel might have been replaced because now that u mention it, below the steering wheel the plastic cover under neath is missing like some one tampered with it or removed it, but why would someone put it on sideways lol? and if that's the case is it hard to reinstall the steering wheel correctly? or will i have to get a new alignment and everything too? the tires are wide and big for the car i think, also the rims are like 18's pretty sure, but the tires are definitely wider than normal nissan pickup tires. heres a picture of what im getting, i definitely want this truck too its what ive been looking for, and your the best man your helping me out a lot and i appreciate it. i will make a donation soon i promise.

Those aftermarket wheels/tires will effect the ride but shouldn't effect the steering any. You will want to have the front end aligned before trying the steering wheel removal, because if the wheel is on correct but it's just misaligned then removing and replacing it can actually do more damage than good. Front end alignments usually don't cost that much, probably $30 or $40. I wouldn't let this stop you from buying truck if you like it. It's not that big of an issue, really just a misalignment problem in one area or another.

Okay thats cool thanks man. Okay now with oil leaks, its got a little oil leak several drops or less maybe a day most likely a seal its from the middle down to underneath I believe, any suggestions of what it might be? If its the rear axle oil thingy is that really bad? I dont think thats it but if it is is that really bad? I heard u have to take out the tranny. Also the car idles funny 500-600 rpms then too 900-1100 rpms then back down to 500-700 or w/e. Any ideas I heard a o2 sensor or IAC valve or MAF etc. I like to hear ur ideas and thoughts? And with all this combined the car stalls after I drove it then braked to test brakes then drove it turned down street then it puttered I think then stalled lost all power steering then I braked n stopped, and it started right back up great. Think of your best ideas for all these questions lol, please dont get annoyed at me I like to hear mechanics ideas and stuff cause I know a decent amount about cars and love to learn more. And I told u I will donate to you or whatever.

Woah that's a whole new list of problems there. Care if I ask how much you are offering for this vehicle?

The idling could be from a vacuum leak or from a faulty idle air control (IAC) valve, along with many other components. Oxygen sensor would not cause this issue though. The oil leak, you mean it's middle of engine or middle of entire truck? If it's the main rear oil seal than it's a pain, the motor or tranny one will have to be removed to replace it. The stalling and losing power is a big concern, it's hard to diagnose stalling issues without actually being there. It could be as simple as weak/old spark plugs to a failing fuel pump. Is the check engine light on? If so, retrieve the trouble codes stored and that will help pinpoint a lot of issues.

Well $2600 cash, I think its an alright deal. What u think? The idling I do think is the IAC valve, could the stalling be from the IAC valve or o2 sensor because it might not be getting the air fuel ratio it needs and then stalls out right? But it starts right back up fine. Oil is on the bottom of the middle/front of the truck from what I see I mean it looks like its on a metal line/ around the pan a little and around that area gunked a lil. I dont think thats the main rear oil seal? Do u think that it is? No check engine light on that I could see. And the guy said the fuel pump was just replaced not too long ago. So what ideas u got. I mean if I get it im going to engine degreaser that bitch and make it nice and find all the problems and leaks.

Not sure what kind of condition the rest of vehicle is in but I know around here (Kentucky) $2,600 could get a very decent vehicle with no issues at all.

The oxygen sensors do not effect driveability, they only effect the emissions of the vehicle. A clogged catalytic converter however can cause stalling, but this normally will cause the engine light to appear. A faulty IAC valve can definitely cause stalling like you have, yes.

Is this motor oil we are talking about or transmission fluid?

I cant get an obd1 there expensive and -95-below is obd1 and I would have to go to a mechanic to get obd1 checked, unless u think since the plastic steering column dash underneath the steering wheel is gone that someone could have disconnected the obd1 completely and tuned off the check engine light completely? That would explain why I dont see a check engine light. If thats true. Ideas once again lol. Ohh by the way the body and everything else is great on this truck, its a little project but thats okay I think. What u think?

So when you first turn key you don't see the engine light on? if not then the bulb is either blown or maybe even taken out by a previous owner. it will have to be replaced before you can retrieve trouble codes. you don't need scan tool to retrieve the codes either. just follow the steps below to get the codes..

No check engine light, the body of car and engine and trans and brakes are great it drives smooth accelerates nice brakes good its a nice truck just a couple problems which I intend to fix with a buddy of mine. I think its motor oil not trans oil, but I do wana do a trans flush n filter change too. Ok so overall im gonna do iac valve change then I think change out the oil pan seal/gasket b/c I think thats where the oils coming from, the complete tune up, then fix the little front end problem eventually and hopefully the iac valve fixes the stalling too, you thinks thats a good plan if I really want this truck?

Sounds like a plan. All vehicles need work done sometime, at least you know what all will be repaired already since you'll be repairing it. I wouldn't have the tranny flushed, just drain and fill it. Oil pan isn't in middle of truck it's towards front of vehicle, hard to tell where it's leaking at without actually seeing it though.

Yep just drain and fill and replace filter. Yeah if its on starter it's probably the oil pan leaking.

Could be leaking from many things honestly, like I said it's hard to say without being there in person. Could be from intake leak, oil sending unit, etc. Just because its on the starter doesn't mean the actual leak is there, it could just be dripping and slowly ending up on the starter.

When you donate, the company gets it first but they will then pay it out to us for helping so it does go to the techs helping. Just click on the "donate" button and follow the steps, you can go through paypal I think. I believe the minimum is a dollar. If you wish to stay in contact with me for further questions you can just post the question here where you have been because I get email notifications saying that you have posted a new question and I check emails every day.

Nice I check my emails daily too. Well its mostly on thestarter my dad said like pretty gunked from all the months of it dripping on it and it looks like it was leaking around oil pan. And it was gunked on a metal line about 3/16 to 1/2 inch thick going across the bottom near oil pan could be brake line I dont know. It was dual metal lines gunked with oil if that helps any suggestions?

If it looks like its around oil pan than most likely it is the oil pan, especially a slow leak such as that.

What are those gunked brake line looking metal lines underneath the car there are two of them side by side going horizontal across the under carriage there most likely brake lines. But are their any brake line looking things that arent brake lines? Like could they be something else?
