Idle adjust screw is stripped

Recently, my truck was idling bad and idle was fluctuating from 1600 to ~ 1800 RPM. SPECs state that it should be 750 +- 50 RPM. When I went to adjust the idle during a tune-up, according to the service manual, I could not since the idle screw seemed to be "stuck" and somewhat "stripped".

This was probably done during the last tune-up more than a year ago and that mechanic shop is no longer in business.

Can I "drill" the screw out with a screw extractor? Or--is this screw set so that it will NOT screw out? I hope I can fix this since a new throttle body is quite expensive.

Try adjusting the fast idle cam and choke opening using the repair manual and then adjust the curb idle speed.
