Hello,

I am trying to install a tachometer in my 2001 nissan sentra 1.38 ltr 4cyl. The car did not come equipped with a tachometer from the manufacturer. The tachometer is a SUn Pro Super tachh 2 mini. According to the instructions the (green Wire) from the tachometer will connect to the rpm signal indicated as a (blue wire with orange stripe) I was successful with connecting the red (power), black (ground), and white (dimmer) wires but I was not able to retrieve a signal from the rpm signal to the green wire. I consulted a sunpro technician and they stated that the signal wire is the blue with orange strip wire.
Would you be able to tell me which wire will give the rpm signal from the car and at what location in the car I can find it?

The orange/blue wire runs to the PCM and is what controls the tach on the tach equipped sentras. Since yours was not equipped with tach the PCM is probably not programmed to control a tach. Your green wire will have to get it's signal from somewhere else (ignition coil, etc?) If possible, or it simply will not work. A stock instrument cluster to one with a tach may plug up and work properly
