2000 Nissan Sentra Tranmission leak or just my speed sensor

2000 Nissan Sentra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 113000 miles
I have known for a few months that I need my speed sensor and fuel level sensor changed. Just recently when getting my oil changed, the technician told my friend who took the car in that I had a transmission fluid leak.
Is it possible that the trouble they detected was because of my speed sensor or do I probably have a transmission lead as well?? I have not had any symptoms other than my speedometer/odometer/gas level dying out every once and a while.
