I have a 1995 Nissan 200SX SE with 167,000 miles on it. I had the engine replaced on April 5th and had all of the new parts (starter, front & rear shocks, and a couple other parts I can't remember off of the top of my head) that I had recently purchased and put in the old engine transferred into the new engine.

I, also, just had the starter replaced on December 31st of last year (this is the one that was initially transferred into the new engine), May 16th of this year (and then again on May 17th because the first two they put in were defective).

A couple of days ago the engine started making an almost chirping sound while I'm driving (usually starting about 30 mph and continuing until I come to a stop). Now today, on top of the noises, I made a 5 minute stop, turned the car off and had a hard time restarting it. It turned over but took a while to catch. The second stop I made was for about the same amount of time with the same result - only it took a *little* longer to turn over than the first time.

Do you think that this is another starter issue? Or do you have any other suggestions on what else I could troubleshoot prior to taking it into my mechanic?

Thanks!

OK. Seems as though I used the wrong term. The engine turned over but took a long time to *start* (not catch). Sorry about that.

Also, I remembered some of the other parts I had replaced included the water pump, front and rear axels.

Could the chirping noise and the "not starting" be two completely different issues?

Any suggestions on where to start would be much appreciated!

Thanks again!
