2003 Nissan Murano Strut replacement

2003 Nissan Murano 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 69,000 miles
I was hit in the driver side when someone ran a red light. The body shop is replacing the strut on the driver side and requested, from the insurance company, the the passenger side be replaced as well but they denied it. My question is should struts be replaced in pairs?
