1995 Nissan Maxima Drivetrain noise
My 1995 maxima has 115000+ miles. In the last 200 miles it developed a low growling noise that increases in pitch in direct relation to the vehicle speed - not the engine speed (If I shift to neutral at any speed, engine drops to idle speed, but noise stays constant with vehicle speed and slowly lowers in pitch as the vehicle slows. Sound is absent when vehicle is stopped with engine running at any rpm). The noise seems to be coming from the front of the car - drivetrain area. Inspection doesnt show anything obvious. Break pads and rotor are in good shape. Breaking or turning has no affect on the noise. Transmission fluid looks clean. Any ideas what to look for?
