1986 Nissan Maxima wiper fluid will shoot ou randomly

1986 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 80k miles

whenever I turn the key, not even starting the car the windshield wipers fluid will shoot out as if it I tried to wash the windshield, but I never touched the wind shield lever. I cant stop it every time I start the car my windshield wiper fluid is shooting out.

Hi there,
Is this a stream of water or just a short dribble, first thing to check is that the vent hole on the filler cap is clear, it may be pressure build up in the reservoir.
