Speedometer problems

Hi,
I just got a 95 nissan altima (manual).The speedometer stopped working.Could you please let me know the reasons why a speedometer would stop working and how much would I approximately have to spend to get it fixed.

Probably the VSS connector came loose at the tranny try checking it or the VSS itself
