I have a 2003 Nissan Altima with the 2.5L engine with 76000 miles and just recently I have had troubles getting it started. In the morning on a cold start it will crank up fine but when I go inside and lets say shop then return to the car a bit later the car refuses to start. The starters cranking but just wont turn the engine over. I have left it a couple of times for a few hours and return to have it start up imediatly with no issues. Spark plugs look decent. What about fuel filter?Injectors?

You'll have to drop the transmission pan. The filter is inside the trans. Just unbolt the pan and let the fluid drop out and pull out the filter to replace with a new one. Change the gasket, ( if not reusable), bolt the pan back up and refill the trans.

When was the last tune-up

Check the coolant temperature and oxygen sensors. One calls for fuel, the other adjusts the fuel

Could also be a cold start injector-

Best way to catch this is run a scan tool and view the live data.

Initial cold start problems is mostly related to fuel.
