I have a 98 Nissan Altima GXE, 142K miles, manual 5 speed transmision, 4 cyclinder engine.

Got off the interstate last Friday and could not get the car into 1st or 2nd gear. 3rd , 4th, 5th and Reverse all worked.

Clutch was replaced about 2 years ago and prior to now, no problems. Only thing I have noticed was a strange "whoop whoop" sound when driving at low speeds. I assumed it was related to a tire issue, but tires are fine.

Any ideas on what may be wrong with transmission?
