Ignition interrupter

My 1994 Altima GXE, 170,000+ miles. Stoped starting. Local repair shop told me it is the ignition interrupter. Having never heard of this part and many of my mechinic buddies haven't either. They want to order from dealership for $375. Is there an alternative a rebuild or a generic I can use instead? Or does this part even exist on the type of car?

Never heard of such animal in nissan's that year whether it would be altima/sentra/stanza etc. Sounds like a crank angle sensor and if it is you need to replace the whole distributor
