I have a '97 Nissan Altima w/ an automatic transmission. The car will no longer go into reverse and does not shift into 2nd gear. Would it be cheaper to buy a rebuilt transmission or get mine fixed? I took it to a auto repair shop and they want to charge me $500 just to "look" at. What should I do?
