My emergency lights go on when I open my car

The buttons on my key stopped working and I have to be using the key to open the car and every time I do open my car, the emergency lights go off and I am able to turn on the car, but I have to wait about a minute for the lights to stop blinking. It's been going on for months now and I took it to a friend that's a mechanic, but he wasn't able to figure out what was wrong with it either. I desperately want answers, because I feel stupid opening my car in public and I don't want to take it to someone that will change me, so I'd like to fix it myself.

Does the red light come on the remote when you press the buttons? Also auto zone usually has a counter top remote signal tester. We have to see if the remote is sending out a signal first then go from there.

No I didn't do anything. I decided to just buy a new battery for the key to see if that would work and apparently that was the problem. It works fine now :D thanks anyways :)
