Engine Mechanical problem
1988 Mitsubishi Pajero 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

hello, my clutch is leaking oil from that rubber thing underneath the engine. My dad's told me that I have to pull that out let all the oild come out of it and then I have to pump the clutch a few times to let the air come out of it too. I'd like to know if these are the right steps and if it is actually what needs to be done? Thank you

Hi there,

If you have fluid leaking from under the rubber boot on the slave cylinder on the gear box, it will require replacing and then the system will require re bleeding to remove all air, just bleeding the system with a faulty cylinder will not work for very long.

HI there,

Undo the hydraulic line and unbolt the cylinder, start the pipe thread and bold up the cylinder to the gear box, making sure that push rod is located correctly, tighten the hydraulic pipe, place a clear hose over the bleeder and place other end into a jar with clean brake fluid, open bleeder and push pedal down, keeping hose in the fluid lift pedal and repeat until all signs of air are gone, making sure that the fluid level does not fall to low in the reservoir, close off bleeder and test clutch.
