1990 Other Mitsubishi Models Having problems

1990 Other Mitsubishi Models 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 240,00 miles
My Mitsubishi Express van has recently been serviced however having driven just over 500ks it has begun burning a lot of oil and the fuel consumption has increased- a full tank gets about 350ks. On my last trip the engine cut out twice and i can hear the fuel pump working at a much faster rate than previously. I have recently had the catalytic converter and part of the exhaust system replaced. Any ideas what might be the problem?
