Good day.
I recently bought a used mitsubishi lancer CK4 with a 4G 92 engine no distributor, not the MIVEK engine. When I start in the morning the car starts then cuts off immediately. When I restart I have to rev the engine to avoid it from cutting off. When I rev the engine the car coughs occassionally. When the engine is warm I can switch off and restart with no cutting off. I can feel a loss in power and usually a shudder when I have to pull off or when driving slowly. Usually I have no problems when driving around 80km/hr or higher.

the mechanic checked the coil pack, fuel pressure regulator and the fuel pump, he also sprayed something into the throttle body to "open it"

tomorrow he's going to check the fuel filter and the injectors.
any advice will be appreciated bro.

HI there,

I would be replacing the plugs and leads a nd checking for any unresolved fault codes in the ECU, as you don't know the history of the car, a full tune & service would be a good place to start.

Hi thanks for the reply. I have a 4g92 engine Mitsubishi Lancer. After a diagnostic the error is the Throttle Position sensor. Can the TPS cause a hard start in the moning, loss of power and shuddering? And can you source it for me please?

HI there,

This can certainly cause this problem, as I live in Australia, I am unable to assist you with sourcing this part, other than it will be normally available from most larger retail parts suppliers.

My mitsubishi lancer is still giving problems. Cold start, loss of power, bucking badly, driving approx 5-10km/h. We serviced the fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs, coil pack, pressure regulator, checked the throttle body, tps sensor, air sensor, engine head gaskit and cylinders and still nothing. We did a full diagnostic on the car and no error codes.
We know the car only works well when we restrict the fuel return line, what else can cause this problem? What must we now look at?
