My car seems to idle by itself before I even push the gas what could this be

Thank you for the donation.

The idling speed is too high and the ECM is trying to compensate so it keeps surging up and down.

The idling is controlled by the Volume Airflow (VAF) sensor and it is this item that is faulty or out of adjustment. Another possibility is vacumn leakage.

Is the Check Engine Lamp showing?

Hi galant1987,

With AC off, adjust the idle adjust screw to lower the idling rpm and see if it solves the proble.
