2004 Mini Cooper S Repair Question

I think i have a starter issue

2004 Mini Cooper S 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 72000 miles
My MINI has an issue that pops up very seldom and I thought at first it was a battery issue and replaced the battery 2 months ago. What happens, is I go to start the MINI, after it has started the day before like normal, and after turning the key, the battery goes from a full charge to about 8 or less volts. The starter makes a loud noise at the same time. Now after this the battery needs to be charged. I now put the MINI on my Battery Tender for the next day and then the battery is back to normal and will be fine for months until this happens again. Also when I start my MINI it is a slow start, it is not like our other MINI that starts normal. Help.
