2001 Other MG Models interior light does not work properly

can you help. my mg zt+ interior lights don't come on when i open the doors but i can turn them on with the button on the light and they stop on ,if i lock the car they go out automaticallly,all the doors central locks work so could you please help me solve this annoying problem.
