I am having problems with my fuel pump or? She was running good, then she quit running stopped in the road couldn't get started. When I got her home tried starting then noticed a puddle of gas by right side tire upfront. The fuel pump had falling out of the trunk and was hanging by rear axel. Put that back in and when it would run (the fuel pump)but it was a ticking sound not the corret sound of the pump I had hear in the past. But would not start car pulled line off fuel filter and fuel pump sounded correct running, put line back on same odd noise. Car still wouldn't start?

Ticking on a mg fuel pump is normal. YOu should have about 3# of pressure at the carb. Check to make sure the wire is ok at the fuel pump. Also the little valve on teh firewall tends to leak alot so just bypass it and check your fuel line for cracking by the carb as they will do that, leak and catch fire. There should be a rubber gasket where the fuel pump goes through the trunk as well. That holds it in place.
