1999 Mercury Villager Vibration Dampeners
Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1999 Mercury Villager 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 110000 miles
Replaced Drive axles on Villager. Original units had vibration dampeners on them. Replacement units do not. Car developes minor but noticeable vibration felt in floor board and front seats at 65 MPH and above. Did not notice this with original units. Tires are new and balanced. No vibration in steering wneel. Have previously replaced units in VWs and Hondas and in all cases original units have dampeners but replacements do not, however have not had a vibration problem in them. Why do original units in new cars have these dampeners and replacements do not. I assume new car manufacturers see them as necessary.
