1998 Mercury Station Wagon Electrical Issue?

1998 Mercury Station Wagon 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 80,000 miles
I have noticed since the winter started that when a lot of energy is pulled by the fan, heater, etc. the lights dim, the engine slows a little, then it goes back to normal? The car doesn't stall or act like it's going to but I find this strange, what do you think?
