I have a 1999 Merc Sable 3.0 SOHC I drove to work with no driveablity issues, parked the car for 16 hours,
and then had a no start condition. Engine crank fine and has spark, Seems like there is NO fuel in the fuel rail, do not hear the pump run on key on, Inirtia switch is in correct position. Could the pump relay cause this? Or is the pump NG? Car was 74,000 Mi.
Fresh tune-up with new wires and coil pack.
Well I put in the fuel pump and stil no go, changed relay and thats not it...what am I missing?
I checked all fuses in the power distrbution box, all ok
Fuel filter changed 4,000 miles ago, After removing the old pump, I hooked it up to 12v and it works!
The new one in the car stil does not!

You didn't say if you checked the fuse. It will be in the same box with the relay.

How about the fuel filter?

Good luck.

How about an inertia switch? I don't know where it would be on your Sable, but that might be it.

Turns out the harness at the left front wheel well chaffed right through one of the wires!
