2001 Mercury Sable will not start

My sable was cranking real slow like the battery was week went to local auto store had the battery and alt. Tested all checked good they told me it was becuase it was so hot outside. I do know that the last the I had it at the dealer for repair they said the cam sensor was going bad and should be replaced 600.00 I don't have the money right now could it be the problem our what could it be ?

$600 for a cam sensor is a lot of money
and cam sensor should not cost that much
dealer or not

Yes the starter was checked along with the battery and alternator. I was not sure it was not the problem our maybe the solinod which is attached to the starter so I pulled it and took it back to the auto store that checked two days before guees what now it and the solinod were bad 150.00 bucks and an hour later we were all good.
