I have a 1996 Mercury Sable 3.0 v6 with 152,000 miles on it that I just got last week. It ran nice and smooth when I first purchased it. And only seemed to be lacking in working AC. But within the first day I noticed the hot/cold gauge would rise quite rapidly when I had to make stops at the lights or was driving slower than normal. I checked the radiator and couldn't see any leaks or cracks in the hoses. Plus the fluid level seemed to be right where it should be.

I chalked it up to the possibility of a faulty gauge and just continued monitoring it whenever I drove. But yesterday my check engine light came on and stayed on.

I went into the local Auto Zone and was given these 5 codes:

P0401
P0155
P0340
P0135
P1131

Can someone please tell me in PLAIN English what they mean (because the print-outs I was given are confusing me lol) and tell me what exactly it is that I need to replace to get them to go away? I would be very grateful. :)

I will try to help. But some of these are not for laymen!
P0401=Insufficent EGR flow, = Clogged port under the EGR! Clean with a wire coathanger right thru to the throttle plate!
P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Means that either the heater on the oxy sensor is bad or the wiring.
P0155 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit See above!
P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit
No match for P1131
Check for any loose wires to the CPS, If the CPS is bad let a knowledgable tech do it! You will need a tool!
