I have a 1998 Mercury Sable with the 3.0 Duratech engine. The problem is it cranks and like runs for a split second and cranks again. It wants to start its like the timing is off but the mechanic says its not the cam sensor. The guy I bought the car from took the sensor out for some reason and the mechanic took it out dont these have to be synchronized when they are removed and put back in? Any info you can offer is greatly appreciated. The car has 70,000 miles on it. Thanks Kim

If you mean the crankshaft position sensor on the front of the motor, Ya you do need it! Bolt it back on or get a new one 17.00 at autozone. I'm surprised you get ANY spark without it!
