I DRAINED MY COOLANT YESTERDAY AND REFILLED IT ALSO CHANGING THE THERMOSTAT. RAN IT, THEN REFILLED IT AGAIN.

TODAY AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES THE GAUGE SHOWED 3/4 OF THE WAY TO THE HOT TEMP (OVERHEATING) SO I PULLED OFF AND WAS TOWED HOME OFF THE HIGHWAY.

WAS I SOLD THE INCORRECT THERMOSTAT BY THE PARTS GUY?

IF I HAVE THE WRONG DEGREE PART WILL IT HURT THE PART. I HAVE A DUAL OVERHEAD CAM DOES THAT MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN TEMP.

First thing I would do is make sure the vehicle is properly bled of air. If there is air in the system it will insufficently circulate the coolant. Also did you mix the coolant at the proper mixture?

Hi,

I think you are on to something there. Can you tell me the procedure on how to bleed the air from the cooling system, yes I put in a 50/50 mixture. Well, I can say it started out that way. Now that I have had 3 different friends all that say they can fix it come work on it, who knows it the mixture is perfect but it should be pretty close, I have the orange antifreeze in it.

Alright the mixture should be good enough. If you want an easy way to do it you can run vehicle with radiator cap off and jack up front end of car and keep topping it off.
